ABOUT ME
I’ve thought about starting a blog for a long time. Now seems like the right time.
I look forward to sharing some snapshots — and occasionally some of my thoughts. Maybe I can inspire you to do the same!
Several of my friends are accomplished photographers. Their subjects range from intricate rare wildflowers…..to the vast expanse of the Rocky Mountains…..to up-close-and-personal human-interest images. All of them produce high-quality photos.
I, on the other hand, just take pictures — with a pocket-size compact camera. Many of my images are simply snapshots of everyday life.
My husband is blessed with a green thumb and an enjoyment of gardening. He does most of the yard work and diligently cares for all of our plants. I take the pictures and occasionally pull the weeds!
He is also quite observant and knowledgeable about plants, animals, and especially birds. He has taught me to smell the roses…to slow down and appreciate a lot of the little things that I used to overlook in the busy-ness of my everyday life.
So — you will notice that many of my pictures are of little things — hence, the title of my blog. Except as noted, most of the flowers are homegrown.
Thanks to digital photography, we can now take images and easily enlarge them bigger than life. For me, studying a flower, a bug, or a little bird in such magnification opens up a whole new appreciation of God’s handiwork. Maybe these pictures will help you, also, to appreciate His creation even more.
I hope you enjoy your visit here…….and
“y’all come back!”

Thank you, Lauree. =) I like what you had to say about ‘lines.’ It’s interesting the way different bloggers approach the challenge word each week!

Thank you for stopping by my blog (http://smilekiddo.wordpress.com/) and “liking” one of my posts – I really appreciate it!
I especially like your intro line on this page – very fun! (I spent my first 5 years in Memphis, then moved north. So I have a lot of Northern traits, but do adore the South.)
Little Things of Life said
Hi, Stef! Thanks for coming to visit — and taking time to comment. I have enjoyed looking around your blog; you’ve posted some very interesting photos and commentaries on everyday life.
I grew up not too awfully far from Memphis and still have friends and family in the Memphis Metro Area.

Hello to one southern gal from another. Yep, and we listen slowly too, we do everything slow here in the south. Good that you stopped by and I will keep tabs on what you are up to. I will be back a bit later with some tea (unsweet, but dont tell anyone or they will run me out of town) and sit-a-spell.
GOD bless and keep y’all safe.

Tammy, I have enjoyed your blog so much and look forward to going back to see more as soon as I have a chance. It’s especially fun to me, knowing that your photos come from ‘the south’(!)
Your hummer photos today are just stunning!
I laughed at your comment about tea!
No better way to sit-a-spell and visit blog land than with a big ole glass of cold iced tea!

Thank you for stopping by and ‘liking’ my recent Wordless Wednesday post. It’s wonderful to know I touched someone somewhere in my small way.
And a shoutout to the farmers/ranchers in your state struggling w/ the drought! Folks are doing their best to spread the word and get you some help. Read Janice’s post here: http://jplovescotton.wordpress.com

Mona, I appreciate your coming to visit and leaving this comment. So many of us around the country have been dealing with different kinds of extreme weather this year! It is always heart-warming and reassuring to see the way people reach out to help each other during times of emergency and disaster. The examples of people across the nation reaching out to help Texas farmers and ranchers are no exception! The Texas drought has been so widespread and the wildfires so extensive that it’s been hard for farmers and ranchers to depend on nearby neighbors for assistance. I know they’re thankful for all those who have helped get feed to their livestock from far away.
I am happy you included the link to JP’s blog. My husband and I were transferred to Texas by his employer many years ago, but we both lived much of our lives in the Mississippi Delta — so JP and I have a lot in common! One of the fun aspects of blogging is how one favorite blog can lead you to another! Thanks again for your comments.

Thank you, MJ! That’s about the nicest compliment I could hope for…and I’m so glad you felt welcome! You’re a Canadian farm girl by birth…and I’m originally from Mississippi…different areas indeed, but perhaps with some of the same traditions and values. Your blog title caught my eye immediately when I saw you had commented on someone’s post. The “…andthem” phrase sounded like something from home — and I knew you had to be a down-to-earth, friendly blogger! I really enjoy your posts.

Little Things Of Life, I’ve nominated you for the Hope Unites Globally HUG Award. If you’d like to accept the award and learn how to share it with others, please read the Guidelines at http://ahopefortoday.com/2012/01/14/hope-unites-globally-hug-award-guidelines/

Tracy, thank you so much for nominating me. I do not take it lightly, and I do appreciate it! However, since my blogging time is very limited right now, I have decided to spend what time I have visiting all of your great blogs…and doing some posting myself. I have chosen to make this an “award-free blog.” I think the Hope for Today project is a wonderful idea — and I would love to think that some of my posts help my readers to feel hopeful, encouraged, and at peace. Thank you for your thoughtfulness in honoring me this way. I hope you understand. Perhaps you can nominate someone else in my place. I’m enjoying following your blog!!
