This is a re-post of something I first shared in October of 2009.
I decided to publish it again, since most of you didn’t see it the first time around.
This time of year my thoughts always turn to harvest season.
In the Mississippi Delta, where my husband and I grew up,
the cotton farmers had an exceptionally bountiful 2011 crop!
Most of Mississippi’s delta farmland has now been converted
from “King Cotton” to corn and soybeans,
but for those who still grow the fluffy white stuff,
it was a very good year!
We haven’t lived in Mississippi for quite a few years now.
Several times — just for the fun of it –
my husband has gotten a friend to mail him some cotton seed from “home,”
and he has planted Mis’sippi Delta cotton seed in our Texas flower beds!
This is part of his “2009 crop.”
I think cotton blooms are such beautiful flowers.
