Tulip Greetings

This is one of my favorite recent edits.
Since some of you use these “Little Inspirations” photos for emails and printed cards,
I added a few different greetings to this one.

You are welcome to share.

:)

This is often referred to as the “You Are Special” Psalm
Psalm 139

…may the LORD reward you for your kindness…
Ruth 1:8

Let Him have all your worries and cares,
for He is always thinking about you and watching everything that concerns you.
I Peter 5:7

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Mrs. E!

Posted by Little Things of Life on March 15, 2011

The inspiration for this post is the 87th birthday of my sixth grade teacher.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MRS. E!!!

Mrs. E was my sixth grade teacher, and then about 12 years later we taught together in another school. Once a week at the end of the school day, a group of us teachers would meet for Bible study — if I remember correctly, we met in her home; that was my first ‘adult’ Bible study — and I would come to realize later that it was a milestone experience in my spiritual journey.

Today Mrs. E is one of my dearest friends on Facebook!! I continue to be amazed at her quick wit and sharp computer skills. She can keep pace with the best on FB, often provides us with words of wisdom, and keeps us posted on news from our hometown.

For example, this is what she posted on her Facebook page this morning:

Woke up singing
“This is the Day the Lord hath made; let us REJOICE and be glad in it.”
My wish for you is a JOY=FULL DAY.

:)

It’s no surprise that Mrs. E is computer savvy. She was the first teacher in our entire state to introduce computers to the classroom. (Of course, that was decades after I was introduced to her classroom!  Ha!)

Her accolades are too numerous to mention. I know only a fraction of them, but here are a few things she has posted on her Facebook profile:

She has two college degrees, has taught in several school systems,
is currently an instructor in the local community college,
teaches a Sunday School class, plays duplicate bridge,
enjoys her family, volunteer work, and crossword puzzles.

(I borrowed this photo from her college website.)

“Pleased and excited to be on Facebook –
Hope to contact people – especially students, friends and coworkers –
that I have had the pleasure of knowing.
Bring me up to date on what you are doing, where you live, family, etc.,
because I am interested in knowing!!!
Join me as MY FRIEND.”

:)

Now isn’t that special!!??!

God has blessed Mrs. E with fairly good health and a wonderful outlook on life. She has had her share of problems through the years, but she has overcome them with the help of her strong Christian faith. She’s an inspiration to all who know her, and just thinking about her makes me want to get UP, get MOVING, and ACCOMPLISH something worthwhile for the day!!

Here are a few birthday quotes which I think apply to her and I hope will apply to the rest of us, as well:

Birthdays are good for you.
Statistics show that the people who have the most live the longest.

Realize that life is a school and you are here to learn.
Problems are simply part of the curriculum that appear and fade away like algebra class ……
but the lessons you learn will last a lifetime.

Enjoy the ride.
Remember that this is not Disney World and you certainly don’t want a fast pass.
You only have one ride through life so make the most of it and enjoy the ride.

Another of my fav’rite sayings is attributed to President Ronald Reagan.  This is my desire for each of you today — and especially for Mrs. E!

Today
I wish you a day of ordinary miracles
Live simply
Love generously
Care deeply
Speak kindly
Leave the rest to God
