Whenever our friends are going through tough times, it is our natural instinct to want to “be there” for them. However, there are often too many miles between us to be able to drop in, share a warm hug, and just be with them. The Internet has made it easier for us to reach out to distant friends, although it’s not always easy to find words to take the place of those quiet hugs!
Interestingly, those who have the most unselfish servant hearts and who are the quickest to “reach out” are often the most uncomfortable when they find themselves on the receiving end of the help and encouragement!
There will be times when we all should offer this reassurance to others – AND there will be times when we all must come to grips with needing that reassurance ourselves — and learning how to accept it gracefully!
I have several friends right now who are trying to make themselves comfortable with being the receivers rather than the givers. This is for them…
