UPDATE 03/29/2010

NOT EXACTLY THE NEWS WE WERE HOPING TO HEAR — BUT GOD, IN HIS INFINITE WISDOM, KNOWS BEST!  THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR PRAYERS.

HERE’S THE LATEST FROM THE WIFE OF ONE OF THE TEAM MEMBERS:

The larger ship (Halie & Matthew) deemed unfit to sail by the Coast Guard. The Captain has gone back to his Liberty Schooner to reschedule the voyage, but will only be able to take 10,000 lb and there is not room for the team. The seeds and water filters were left to go on to Haiti. There is much disappointment, but I prayed “Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth, as it is in Heaven!” Thanks for all the prayers! Love you all…

UPDATE 03/29/2010

Good news! Haiti Team 4 has been able to upgrade from the small ship, Liberty, to a larger vessel! They have made arrangements with the owners of the schooner Halie & Matthew to charter her for this relief voyage.

“The volume of supplies had become so overwhelming that we approached the owners of the schooner Halie & Matthew, because we needed a larger vessel. We had over 40,000 lbs of relief supplies that needed to get to Haiti, and Liberty could only take a quarter of that. Four trips on Liberty would mean four times the expense, and time is running out. Hurricane season is coming soon. With the schooner Halie & Matthew waiting to sail north to start her season in Maine, she is ideally positioned to be used as a relief vessel to Haiti, and then our crew will deliver her to Maine.”

UPDATE 03-29-2010

Please pray for the team of five Texas Baptist Men who are traveling to Haiti by sailboat. Enroute from Key West to Miami, they ran into high winds, which caused damage requiring repairs to their boat. They were scheduled to arrive in Miami at 2:00 a.m. today. There they are to load 40,000 lb. of cargo, which includes water filter drip systems and seeds.

The seeds they are carrying were collected by RAs (church organization of boys, grades 1 through 6) across the state of Texas. The men will work through a school and an orphanage to distribute the “seeds of hope” to the people of Haiti.

Fishers of Men

Posted by Little Things of Life on March 27, 2010

Texas Baptist Men’s Disaster Relief teams have been traveling back and forth to Haiti ever since the recent earthquake — taking supplies, doing relief work, and sharing the Gospel.

One of their teams was even privileged to witness a Voodoo priest, Jean Odin, accepting Christ as his Lord and Savior! You can read this man’s amazing story by clicking on the link below:

This weekend, a team of five Texas Baptist Men is in the process of sailing from Key West, Florida, to Miami to pick up a load of cargo and will then set sail for Haiti. They are taking water purification filters, seeds, and medical items. They will help to crew the ship — and it is definitely no “cruise ship”!

Take a look at this vessel in which they’re sailing. Then please join me in praying for their safety and health — and for God’s assignment to be accomplished!  I’m sure their families back home would appreciate our prayers, as well.  Thank you!
